Homelessness

The YWCA of Calgary provides women and children with a place to call home when they’re in crisis or transition.

On any given night in Calgary, 197 families will sleep in a shelter. And the number of homeless people in Calgary – including women and children in emergency and transitional housing – is on the rise. Of course, that’s not counting “concealed homeless” populations, who sleep on a friend's couch, in a family member's basement or car.

For many women and children, homelessness is a direct result of leaving an abusive relationship.

The YWCA of Calgary does not believe that women should have to choose between personal safety and a place to call home. That’s why we provide safe and affordable housing for women and children in crisis or transition.
