LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) – are full-time and part-time classes to help permanent residents improve their English language skills while learning about living and working in Canada. This program is for new immigrants who meet the guidelines set out by - Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

To qualify for this program you need to have a language assessment and be referred from ILVARC (Immigrant Language and Vocational Assessment Referral Centre).

Program Description

The YWCA of Calgary’s LINC Program offers full-time and part-time English language classes from basic to advanced language levels for new immigrants to Canada.

Daytime & Evening Classes offered at the YWCA in downtown Calgary.

      WINTER 2008

• Full-Time Classes - January 7th to March 28th (12 weeks)
  • LINC 1 (1 class) Mon. - Thurs. 9:00am-3:00pm   Friday 9:00am-12 noon
  • LINC 2 (1 class) Mon. - Thurs. 9:00am-3:00pm   Friday 9:00am-12 noon
  • LINC 3 (1 class) Mon. - Thurs. 9:00am-3:00pm   Friday 9:00am-12 noon

   

• Part-Time Classes - January 7th to March 27th (12 weeks)
  • LINC 3 - (1 class) Mon - Thurs - 9:30 am – 11:30 am
  • LINC 4 - (1 class) Mon - Thurs - 9:30 am – 11:30 am
  • LINC 2 - (1 class) Mon - Thurs - 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
  • LINC 1 (literacy) -  (1 class) Mon - Thurs - 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

   

• Evening Classes - January 7th/8th to March 27th/28th (12 weeks)
  • Pre-Benchmarks to LINC 3 - (4 classes) M & W - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Pre-Benchmarks to LINC 3 - (4 classes) T & Th - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • LINC 4 - (1 class) T & Th – 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

  • Pre-Benchmark, LINC 1 and LINC 1 Literacy                                                      (3 classes)  M to Th -  5:30 pm to7:00
